- Description
-
Fredricks Vineyard consists of three main plantings. One section which is a gentle south-facing slope was planted in 1937. The second section planted in 1943 is a south-facing terraced, contoured hillside. The third section (non-historic) was planted to
Zinfandel in 2008 with cuttings from the Hayne Vineyard in Napa, and the Dupratt vineyard in Mendocino. This section which is about three acres replaced a block of ruby-Cabernet dating back to the 1940s. Different sections of the vineyard can ripen a
month apart due to the different exposures and aspects. All vines are head trained and dry farmed. The vineyard is organically farmed by Chuy Ordaz and his Palo Alto vineyard management team in cooperation with Turley Wine Cellars.
