- Description
-
Fredericks Vineyard consists of three main plantings. One section is a gentle south-facing slope that was planted in 1937. The second section was planted in 1943 and is a south-facing terraced, contoured hillside. The third section (non-historic) was planted to Zinfandel in 2008 with cuttings from the Hayne Vineyard in Napa and the DuPratt vineyard in Mendocino. This three acre section replaced a block of Ruby Cabernet dating back to the 1940s.
Different sections of the vineyard can ripen a month apart due to the different exposures and aspects. All vines are head-trained and dry-farmed. The vineyard is organically farmed by Chuy Ordaz and his Palo Alto vineyard management team in cooperation with Turley Wine Cellars.
