- Description
-
The farm where our vineyard is located was in the Jackse family for decades, going back to pre-Prohibition. Mr. Jackse was even arrested for selling wine from this farm during Prohibition. The vineyard is presently the home to our newly remodeled offices. Our building was once the Jackse barn and their farmhouse still stands next door. Although we don’t know the actual planting date of these vines, Tegan Passalacqua of Turley agrees that they are at least 50 years old. We have begun making wine from only these grapes as part of a staff project. We do the whole process, from pruning the vines, to harvesting the grapes, to fermenting in the basement of the farmhouse, to bottling the wine.
