- Description
-
Wheeler Vineyard is the oldest of the four vineyards managed by Circle S Vineyards. It was purchased by Ron Siletto, former president of Almaden Vineyards, in 1995. Tres Pinos Creek runs along its border to the South. The elevated gravelly alluvial terrace on the south side was planted by Bob Wheeler, who used to produce grapes for Almaden, in 1974 to Cabernet Sauvignon (Inglenook), on AxR1 rootstock. The well drained alluvial fan to the north and below was planted in 1977 to plantings of Chardonnay (Wente) for Ken Volk. In 2007, 1.5 acres of Sangiovese (Brunello Grosso) were added to the terrace.
