Bender Family Vineyard

Description: The vineyard is 19.71 acres of Old Vine Zinfandel planted in 1951-52 by my father, Edwin P. Bender. He inherited the property from his father, John Bender. The vines are head-trained, planted on St. George and Dog Ridge rootstock and have a 7′ x 7′ spacing on Hanford Sandy Loam. There are still a few of the original redwood split grape stakes. The vineyard was flood irrigated until 2007 when drip irrigation was installed.
