Joe and Lou Maley planted St. George rootstock on the west side of Lodi and then did their own grafting with Zinfandel budwood in 1958. The vines are head-trained, planted to a 9′ x 9′ vine spacing, and growing in Tokay sandy loam. The vines have nice, loose bunches and typically yield 3 tons/acre.
The current owner, Todd Maley, is a founding member of the Lodi Native Project and has produced 10 vintages of Zinfandel bottled for this project from Wegat Vineyard.
